Is there a way to sort found videos by size/most likely to capture?

Hi, I've been using a licensed version of Video Downloadhelper on firefox for a few years. One feature I'd like to see added or wonder if there is already an option for this - is to see a sorted list of what videos have been found and are available for download. I have been using this to capture video clips from sites where the download helper keeps identifying more tiny files and adding to the list - the longer that I am on the page, the more options it finds. After 4 seconds I might have 30 options to search through to find the one - (usually of MB size) that is the one I want to capture. This is almost always the largest size found. After 20 seconds, there may be more than 200 entries to search through, so it is much harder to find the largest file. It would be GREAT if video download helper had a way to allow me to automatically sort the display of found video results so that they were sorted by largest file first at the top - would save a lot of effort visually searching to find that one file I want the system to capture.

You are on an antique version of VDH so you can assume there will never again be any updates to that version. However, upgrading to the latest version isn't going to address your issue. I've seen sites like what you're talking about & there's really nothing you can do about it. I think there used to be a VDH setting for preventing the display of variants below a certain size. Your version may still have that setting. But as I recall, it never worked properly. You'd set a threshold & variants smaller than that would still be displayed. That setting is gone in the modern version. The closest thing is a Reverse sorting setting. I've never messed with it but it might do what you want. Like I say, I have never used it. Given its name, it might put the largest variants at the bottom of the list. That would at least collect the ones you want in a common place, even if it isn't at the top. But you'd have to upgrade your release of VDH to try it out. And it still might not be what you're looking for.

I deliberately was on an older release because the newer releases past 8.1.4.0 were not recognizing there were ANY available videos on the site / would not create even an unsorted target list. The system, of course, tried to upgrade me to the latest version for the next three months, until I turned off automatic updates - the next 3 newer version releases were still unable to recognize that any videos existed on the site.
I was hoping that developers monitoring this thread for the product might add this filter feature (back) in newer releases, and that I could update and try again re site target recognition. Worst case, I revert back to the old version and continue collecting as before.

If you post a few URLs, I could see how things look with the current version. When I say URLs, I mean the URLs of web pages where the videos are hosted. Don't try to help things along by analyzing the HTML or anything fancy like that. Just the web pages themselves . . . assuming they're not behind a logon.
