VHD 10 Edge being a massive downgrade

So today Edge auto-updated VDH from 9.5 to the new version 10 which is a massive downgrade in functionality:

• no smart rename anymore
• no separate download directory, it always uses the Edge default
• most other options are also just gone
• already two sites I tried it on where it worked before aren't working anymore

Lucky for me, Edge hadn't yet removed the old version from the Extensions folder, so I went back to 9.5 and stopped the auto-update by removing the update URL from the manifest.

But still, what happened, why this massive reduction in features?

I'm sorry this is not working they way you wanted. Like I mentioned in the changelog, I removed the coapp. Plenty of good reasons for that (privacy, avalanche of users complaining about the coapp not registering properly, not to mention the fact I have to maintain 2 softwares instead of 1).

But hopefully, I can address most of your complains:

That's sadly not something we have control over. It's a browser limitation.

We can re-use the coapp for that. It's a workaround I'm willing to work on if lot of people need it.

Which one are you missing exactly? Because if I'm not mistaken, only transcoding is missing. And now we support downloading into the transcoded target of v9, so no point of transcoding.

V 10 already out ? I think it is an improvement but it needed more time to bring it up to par or close to it in version 9.

smartnaming for me is crucial. downloading 40 hls streams and renaming them manually kinda s*cks...

The feature to see all detected videos in open tabs is missing. I would typically go to a site that has multiple episode i want to download. I would open each in a separate tab. I used to see them all in the Video DownloadHelper panel and just have to click download next to each. Now I have to go to every tab and hit download.

I can see all downloading videos in the same panel regardless of tab but just not the ability to download all anymore. Also, a Download All button might be a nice addition!

It is supposed to detect all the videos on the page.
I guess you are talking about a page with a list of episodes.
Can you share that page?

I had to download the version for Google Chrome since it's still on 9.5.0.1.
The downside, of course, is that it doesn't detect YouTube videos — but at least it works.
Is it still possible to get an older version for Edge?

Also, having a separate directory was much more convenient, especially when recording live streams.
It allowed specifying a save path right away, instead of waiting for the download to finish and only then getting the save directory prompt.
In 5 out of 6 cases, that prompt didn’t appear at all — and the recording, often hours long, simply disappeared with an error after the stream ended.
