The error I received in the app is in the title of my post. I have no problems downloading using Video Downloader though. I tried via a vpn and same issue. I don't download much from Youtube so I'm not throttled or banned. |

Me too! I was using the free version without the issue. Paid, and now the app gives me this error MOST of the time. Never had a situation where I paid for software and got a worse experience sadly. LSL33, I would recommend Video Downloader Ultimate as it works for me. Paid for that too but at least it actually works. |

which cookies? I can't clear them all - my passwords/logins are in the

Deleting YouTube cookies seemed to work for me! Earlier today, VDH wasn't downloading YouTube, and though I really hate the standard "clear cache and cookies" advice (It usually does nothing but wipe out my saved passwords), after I took out all the youtube ones it started downloading again, so thanks. |

I've been having the same issue here. Ever since mid-July I haven't been able to download any videos as it gives me the same error message despite me using the paid version and no matter which video I pick. Not sure how you get the full Addon and CoApp details, but here are mine: |

FWIW... Background: Firefox 141.0.3 64-bit (Kubuntu 25.04 / Snap). VideoDownloadHelper v9.5.0.2 with CoApp installed. I have been experiencing problems downloading YT videos as well. I was going to post several URLs here where my download attempts failed. I have had issues occasionally where videos would not be detected, but restarting my browser or reloading the offending browser tab would generally fix that issue. In the cases to which I am referring here, it was the "sorry... we failed in downloading" that video / URL. I usually use Private Interrnet Access or SurfShark VPN. This morning, when problems occurred, I switched VPN locations. For one video, that did not help (SurfShark -> switched locations). Turning SurfShark off / starting PIA and reloading browser tab resulted in one successful download. But subsequent downloads were not successful. Shutting all VPN's off... resulted in my successfully downloading a different YT video. But then problems returned. Reading this thread, I saw the suggestion / recommendation to clear YouTube cookies. (Firefox: [3Bar icon] > Settings > [Privacy & Security] > (Cookies and Site Data section) [ Manage Data ] --> search on "YouTube") I had 7.5MB of YT cookies. I cleared all those out. I had to re-login to YouTube. But now I have been able to successfully download several Mango Jelly FreeCAD videos, a NFL commentator / sports-personality video. So... I don't know what it is... but clearing the site cookies of a problematic video URL does appear to help if not resolve these issues. FWIW / Thanks for a useful tool. |

As a followup... I just tried a few more things. Summary: Private Internet Access (PIA) appears to be filtered "hard" -- cannot download any YT videos with PIA engaged. I was able to download a Mango Jelly FreeCAD video with SurfShark turned on. What I did:
It appears that VPN connections (esp. PIA) can be problematic. Clearing browser of YouTube data/cookies appears to be possibly required. (I.e. if you're having problems... 1st step: clear browser cookies. 2nd step: check VPN -- disconnect (or change location?) and try again.) FWIW / HTH |
