August 10, 2025: YouTube videos just stopped downloading

I think YouTube has done it again. The downloader was working fine earlier this morning. Right now, the extension cannot download ANY YouTube video. It does not fail with a partial download; rather, it fails before downloading can start.

When I tried to force detection, I actually got logged out of YouTube! I had to log back in.

I have run into the same issue. I even did all the regular items clean out cache, history, remove app reinstall app re register app code. worked for 5 downloads and then boom. I tend to agree YouTube is at it again.

Definitely not working for certain countries (GB for example) however using VPN it's fine. Give that a try.

Yes, this is in the godforsaken U.S. Took another crack at this after work. The FIRST video I opened did download without issue. The same video would NOT download this morning!

However, after that initial success, no other video will download. Every one fails before any progress is made. I'm disappointed. We shall check again tomorrow....

Been running into the same issue as well since mid-July. I gave it weeks but the issue still persists.

I've been having this problem a lot, lately. It started about a month ago. Everytime I try downloading something interesting it gives an error before it can even start the download.

The error says: «Download failed: Sadly we failed at downloading that specific media. We try to support as many websites as possible, so it would help a lot if you could report that error (it's anonymous!)».

¡Please help! I need this for research.
