Need an update - Youtube downloading has quit working for over a month now

Please advise status of any pending updates. The youtube download options are all failing now, save a few particular videos. Probably 8-10 attempts won't download. Need your software update out asap. Licensed user.

Same here. V9.5.02; VoApp installed V2/0/18.

Downloading from, YT worked fine this afternoon (08/16/2025), but all YT downloads fail as of 1:18 AM 08/17/2025. Videos are detected, but download fails.

No problems with any other of the sites I frequent. Only YT.

UPDATE: OS is Ubuntu Linux. Locale is US.

Youtube just simply doesnt work. The downloads show up, but instantly fail when pressing the button. After sites seems to work fine.

The VDH beta for Firefox is currently not the latest version. The general availability version is the version everybody should be using at the moment. This has not historically been true, but it's true at the moment.

YouTube appears to have implemented some sort of policing algorithm that punishes people who download a lot. How much is a lot? I invite you to search the web for the answer to that question. I have been unsuccessful at finding that answer. Maybe you'll do better. In any case, YouTube will block your IP address if you have been "bad." How long does that block last? Again, search the web. Good luck. There is speculation that clearing YouTube cookies cures the problem. But don't use the Firefox feature for clearing cookies. That clears the cookies but it also clears associated disk cache entries, a potentially time-consuming & probably pointless operation. Get a browser extension that manipulates cookies only without reference to disk cache. There's a number of them out there. You can get the same effect as clearing cache by reloading the web page via Ctrl+F5.

Once YouTube condescends to allow you to download from them again -- and they will condescend to allow you in again -- don't repeat the mistake of downloading too much. Download one thing then wait a few minutes. Then you can download something else. Does this suck? Oh yeah, big wet ones. But you do want to successfully download from YouTube, don't you? Do what works, even if it shouldn't.

Thanks for the information, GrampaWildWilly. I've installed Cookie Quick Manager, so I'll see if it helps. I forgot to mention that I use the latest supported version of VDH, not the beta.

Do you download a lot from youtube ? See #2190, the ip address could be blocked in which case a vpn may help.
