Waveshare Panel not showing anything

Hello, apologies in advance if this is the wrong place to inquire about this; this is the closest library to what I'm trying to achieve and what my setup is.

I have a Raspberry Pi 5, a Adafruit RGB Bonnet and a Waveshare RGB panel this one. I followed the initial Pi OS setup, installed the libraries and did the wiring as in the guide.

No lights appear when I try to run any of the examples. Will the code really just work with Adafruit panels or did I miss something?
I'm also a beginner in Pi programming (I have a JS/TS background), is there a way to check if the Pi can detect the panel is connected? or if the panel is not defective?

Any help or pointing to the right direction will be appreciated, and feel free to close this issue if necessary. Thank you!

If you're using a 64x64 RGB matrix and either a Bonnet or a Rev C HAT, use your soldering iron to melt a blob of solder on the bottom solder jumper so the middle pad is 'shorted' to 8. (This is compatible with 64x64 matrices in the Adafruit store. For 64x64 matrices from other sources, you might need to use 16 instead, check the datasheet.)
