How to enable DRM playback on VRT NU addon

This ought to work out-of-the-box on Kodi v17 (Krypton) and Kodi v18 (Leia).

Some streams on VRT NU are DRM-protected, this includes the 720p live streams.

Mechanism

The VRT NU addon uses the script.module.inputstreamhelper plugin which is automatically installed when installing the VRT NU addon in Kodi. As soon as a DRM-protected stream is started, it will offer to download, extract and/or install the required Widevine CDM library to your Kodi system. Once this has finished, the stream will start playing automatically.

From time to time this plugin will check and update the existing Widevine library when needed.

Enable 720p HD-quality live streams

To enable the 720p live streams using DRM, please enable them in the addon settings page:

Settings - VRT NU » DRM » Use DRM for 720p HD-quality livestreams

Also ensure that InputStream Adaptive is ignoring your display's resolution:

Settings - InputStream Adaptive » General » Ignore Display Resolution

And you do not artificially limit your bandwidth usage

Settings » System » Internet access » Internet connection bandwidth limitation
