Drag to Zoom is not available

How you can zoom into visualization details by marking data of interest and view solely the marked data within the visualization.
Using drag to draw a rectangle over a part of chart, subset the data to that part and then re-rendered.

What would be proper way of handling this use case, since the x, y scales need to be controlled in order to recalculate them later when selection of subset of data and zooming/drilling into it.

Ex: Assume you want to take a closer look at the group of markers in the middle part of the scatter plot below. Follow the steps above, and mark the data of interest.
