Yeah, new releases need to be advertised in here at the very least, in my opinion. 99% of the time I have no idea there's a new release until someone reports a bug about it, or there's some casual mention of it in a discussion. The irony is that my inbox is spammed with bug tracker/discussion stuff and yet not once (until this post) have I seen an actual announcement of a new version haha. Its so weird. |

Yes this was a good idea! We had avoided the option of maintaining a distribution list for announcements just because of the hoops we have to jump through internally for data privacy/compliance etc. So having something like this is a very good and simple way of doing it! We are looking to create a simple app that can also be used to notify you of new releases, and help with downloading them without having to download a massive zip with lots of files that hadn't changed... |

@ajwfrost Does the new sdk only ignore "multidex.jar" or will it ignore ones like "multidex-2.0.1.jar" as well? Just we package it with the version number as well I believe. |

Hi @elegantdeer - I don't think it would be possible to do this directly from IntelliJ. We're basically adding a new "target" to the AIR SDK tools, but the IDEs are unlikely to pick this up soon, so they would still just be using the existing targets such as "apk". So to get this set up, you'd need to know what IntelliJ is passing to the ADT tool when it's doing a normal "apk" packaging. You should be able to find this out if you go into the SDK's "lib" folder and edit the file Then just replace the thanks |

We'd been discussing this last week, whether we should wait a bit to try to capture all cases or whether to release things incrementally (as there are quite a few different operations we want to be adding to this sort of thing!) - from your messages here I guess we should probably go with the latter so that we can start optimizing the key cases. thanks |

Yes but it's the same. val becomes x, which is null. EDIT -> ignore this, having just added the bit below, this is completely wrong. Sorry! val becomes x if x is not null. val becomes y if x is null. (end edit)
Yes hopefully at some point! but that's a lot trickier to do...
Okay so that concerns me ... the notes I can see in our source code say "x ?? y would return y only if x is null (rather than if it's false)". Ah.. so yes, it looks like our source comment - and your correction above - are correct, and I'd just got that wrong when drafting the release note text above...! Good question .. So we had added this token into the property access but it looks like these other places need to be addressed separately... and compiles but at runtime throws: I suspect this will mostly just need some changes to the grammar to get those working... Just to confirm expectations:

Must say I really like arrow functions in JS and similar. They are really useful when passing and defining functions as parameters or callbacks, which is one thing that I often find lacking in AS3. For example if we look at a simple function foo that takes a callback function as a parameter. It expects this function to have a particular params and return value: function foo( callback:Function ):Number {
// callback has no type or return information defined so hard to enforce rules
var number:Number = callback( 'some string' );
return number;
}Then when you go to use it, foo( function( p:String ):Number {
return 1;
});however in actionscript the following would compile but fail at runtime: foo( function():void {

@Adolio we've been looking at the ANGLE set-up here, there's actually quite a difference if we want to do this "properly" i.e. how people use ANGLE is not a generic usage of the EGL/OpenGLES APIs, and there doesn't seem to be any documentation on it.. but working from their samples, we're going to need to change the start-up mechanisms. Once we've done that, it may help your scenario or if not we'll be able to look at it in more depth.. @pol2095 the original issue was that when trying to create an ANE file on a Linux build machine, it didn't like the fact that a macOS framework had symbolic links. The fix took a couple of iterations, so see also #3851 .. but with this, it should be possible to use macOS frameworks (which are the only things that are allowed to have symbolic links within an ANE) and build them on any platform that supports symbolic links in Java. thanks |

@xpojosh yes still doing that, let me check on the updates there. Separately though, we have an ANE - currently just for Windows as an example - where we can pipe video into an object using an NDI source. The same mechanism should enable us to have a more 'open' mechanism for video decoding on linux/etc. Let me know if you want the ANE source code - it's a bit elementary, and needs to be updated to do things in a different thread as NDI seems to have some APIs that need to wait, but it should show how to inject video into the AIR runtime. thanks |

@xpojosh fyi he thinks he's found one of the key issues which basically seems to be a binary incompatibility between different ffmpeg versions, i.e. our build machine (Ubuntu 16) has an old version of libavcodec on it, and so a codec definition in there is different from the definition in later versions. We're not 100% sure yet how to work around this - it seems like the expectation is that ffmpeg would be built together with the application and shipped with it, so I may need to go back to our legal/licensing experts to see if we can do that... Alternatively we may instead look at an ANE which could do this, as I think it might be simpler! thanks |

@ajwfrost that explains the issue that I was seeing. In the enum that was in libavcodec/avcodec.h and now in libavcodec/codec_id.h: Since the version in Ubuntu 16.04 was compiled with FF_API_XVMC enabled, that explains the off-by-one issue where it was instead selecting AV_CODEC_ID_INDEO3 instead of AV_CODEC_ID_H264 because AV_CODEC_ID_MPEG2VIDEO_XVMC has been removed entirely in this commit FFmpeg/FFmpeg@b46613d which means that if you continue building with ffmpeg 3.1.x you can use As said previously, I've manually compiled ffmpeg before to work around this issue, but haven't tried compiling ffmpeg 3.1.x. I should have time to try next week. |

I wonder if the VideoTexture problem is related to the Asynchronous texture upload bug (#1621). At the time that I opened that bug, @ajwfrost had reported that reason behind the issue was that the Linux OpenGL implementation was missing the ability to create GL contexts on the background threads (so that they can share resources like textures). He did indicate; however, that this would not be too tricky of a thing to implement. ;) |

So far the only impact is going to be in getting code-signing certificates in their name... we are in a transition period at the moment so there's a bit of work that will go on behind the scenes to move things over to new network infrastructure and the airsdk.harman.com website will need to redirect somewhere .. but there's a fair bit of time to get it all sorted out. It's basically a lift and shift of our organization from Harman's ownership into Wipro Engineering. All licenses, contracts etc all stay the same and are valid as the "Harman Connected Services Inc" company is still there and still continues to trade, it's just the owner of the company that changed. |

Hi @ylazy - you might find only a minimal impact, depending a little on how your application is structured .. the use case that was showing a different in performance was one that called a lot of very short functions repeatedly, so the overhead of the injected stack overflow check was relatively significant when compared against the function body itself. But yes, in a normal application, this may not have such an impact. |

Hi all - just a quick announcement to confirm that we're switching over to Wipro namings/accounts for things... "Harman DTS" was bought by Wipro at the end of last year: Our email mailboxes are being migrated currently so please start to use "wipro.com" in place of "harman.com". The email names are the same as before though. To start with, emails will be forwarded on, but it would be good if folk can switch over as quickly as possible; we've already updated the notification settings for GitHub for our team. At some point soon we will be moving the airsdk.harman.com website and giving it a Wipro-branded refresh. There will be some overlap of course. And you may also notice that Windows code-signing is already using a Wipro entity now, and the Apple code-signing will soon follow. Hopefully none of this will affect anything! Please let me know of any issues or problems related to this. In terms of the Adobe support work that we do: nothing is changing, the whole team is just part of this wider organisation that got moved across. I guess one change we also need to complete fairly soon is the removal of the Harman name/logo on the splash screen images! I'm sure a lot of people will be happy at that change.. thanks |

Yes sorry - should have said 'developer preferences' there for sure! But still, I'm not sure it's going to be practical and/or might fall foul of trademark usage requirements. I'll check with our marketing folk to see what we can do here anyway! |

It would be nice to have it respect the normal / dark modes with a super simple design like was proposed here: #4009 (reply in thread) I know it's a user setting but I believe respecting the normal/dark modes on a device is important for the users coherent experience on their device. Perhaps an option in the app descriptor to pick light/dark/auto |

It would be legendary if you guys brought back a "Smokey Bear" type splash screen like they had in arcade cabinets. The graphic design could incorporate the Air logo along with a message about preventing forest fires. I'm sure this would generate positive feedback on social media and even broadcast media. Including several different tips about preventing forest fires that could be randomized at the launch of the game would be very easy to implement. It wouldn't necessarily have to use the official "Smokey Bear" trademark, but the messages could be similar: https://smokeybear.com/ "Nearly 9 out of 10 wildfires are caused by people and could have been prevented." If interested, I would be happy to make a sample design to demonstrate the idea. |
