Analysis

I've analyzed the current implementation in codestats_box.py. The key issue is in the update_gist() function (lines 204-217) which always updates the gist without checking if the content has changed.

Implementation

I've modified the update_gist() function to:

1. Fetch current gist content using gist.files[old_title].content
2. Compare both content and title with the new values
3. Skip update if identical and print a message
4. Return boolean to indicate whether update occurred

Key changes in codestats_box.py:216-220:

# Check if content has changed to avoid unnecessary updates
current_content = gist.files[old_title].content
if current_content == content and old_title == title:
    print(f"No changes detected. Skipping gist update.")
    return False

This prevents unnecessary revisions in the gist history when the content hasn't actually changed.
