BLue LED not Flashing and no transmit

BLE LED is not flashing after startup. I've successfully completed Step 4 CubeSatSim Main Board Assembly part 2 and successfully completed Testing to setp 4.4. BLUE LEd was working correctly and transmitting on 434.9 to HT. I've re-imaged the SD several times and re-imaged a new SD with same result fo no Ble LED Flashing or transmitting. The BLE LED checked successfully using a multimeter , as did the associated resistor. Is ther anything else I can check. I am suspecting a failed SR105U

Can you log into your Raspberry Pi Zero and get the logs? If you can ssh into the Pi you could copy and paste the logs. If not, you could take photos of the screen. Here are the commands to type:

Can you try using the disk image installation method and see if that works?

I have done some more research into this. It seems that the Raspberry Pi Imager tool no longer supports Bullseye. It has a Legacy OS version, but it is Bookworm. Also, the main Raspberry Pi Download page also lists the Legacy OS version as Bookworm. I suspect this is the OS version you have been using, which is why you have been getting the GPIO error. You can verify it with this command:

cat /etc/os-release

Which will probably say Bookworm, not Bullseye.

I found a Bullseye Pi OS image that works: https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspios_full_armhf/images/raspios_full_armhf-2023-05-03/ Here is the file download link: https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspios_full_armhf/images/raspios_full_armhf-2023-05-03/2023-05-03-raspios-bullseye-armhf-full.img.xz

You can use this with the Raspberry Pi Imager, but under OS you need to choose the Use Custom option at the very bottom of the list, then select the downloaded image 2023-05-03-raspios-bullseye-armhf-full.img.xz

Unfortunately, Customization is not supported with a Custom image, so you can't preset your username, password, localization, and WiFi settings.

So after you write this image to your microSD card, you will need to connect a monitor and keyboard to your Pi Zero 2 to set your location and keyboard, Create the user pi and the password, and your WiFi network. After that, you Restart and turn on ssh and vnc for remote access using sudo raspi-config then Interface Options then SSH and VNC to enable.

You can then follow the software installation steps and it work work. The only hiccup is that if you run the installer script while running the Desktop, the Direwolf installation will freeze. But you can just cycle the power to the Pi Zero 2, then run the installer script again and it will complete successfully. Alternatively, if you use sudo raspi-config to change to Boot to Console (System/ Boot Auto Login/ Console or Console Auto Login) then the installer script will complete without any issues.

You should also run an update:

cd

cd CubeSatSim

./update

There is an effort to port the code to run on Bookworm, but there are many things that break backwards compatibility for seemingly no reason, so we haven't succeeded yet. See this link: #389

Ah ha! So you used an older version of the Pi Imager v2.0.0 (instead of 2.0.3) and then you were able to choose the OS as Bullseye.

Because I tried older versions of the Pi Imager application, and they still only offered Trixie and Bookworm OS install options - only the Use Custom option and the Bullseye link worked.
