Prompt to Encode an already encoded file & PS2Classics only from PS3 disc dump ? #1322

Issue 1: -
Method:

  • Use PS2Classics GUI to encode an iso file, Add it to PS3 Super Slim HEN HFW 4.92 using Ethernet,
Boot up webman click the file and it says "Do you want to encrypt it"
No - it is already encrypted. thus the option is moot.
  • Not a big issue but seems unnecessary

Issue 2: Maybe i have done something wrong, and i can guarantee anyone who can fix it will attack me but ...

  • You can only use encoded iso files with webman + ps2classics if those encoded files are created using the PS2Classics GUI app on PC
i.e. encoding using webman fails, but ps2classicsgui works.

Issue 3:

  • you can only use an original PS2 DVD on the PS3 and dump it there
  • users cannot use a PC to dump the DVD then use imgburn to create a iso, then encode that

I have spent abotu 24hrs testing this and i have a theory - please don't attack me for it

  • The DVD Gnerator code is used to create the iso file on PS3
  • somewhere between 4.84 & 4.92 something shoudl have been addressed and ps2classics is still 8 years old.
both webman and ps2classics chekc for modifed .iso files and block them, meaning we cannot fix games and use them

To replicate:
PS2 DVD ripped to PC usng IMGBurn (goto standard iso backup software since forever)

  • This does not work on PS3
  • Poweriso , even after like 20 years, still doesn't play well with creating iso's for PS2,
  • PCSX2 plays an imgburn iso perfectly fine, as does the PS2 Hardware with OPL

PS2 DVD ripped using webman then that .iso (which shows sony's dvd generator btw) can then be encode with PS2 CLassics GUI on PC and that file will work on PS3.

THe problems;-

  1. Apparently the sony dvd generator code is used to create an iso on PS3 and also PS2Classics which blocks any other iso
  2. THis means you cannot for example - modify GTA Sandreas on PC then encode it, then use it on PS3.

I tried for 24 hrs then realsied the only difference in the whole process is that the PS2 DVD must be dumped using the PS3 & that's why every guide and video and comment relating to thigns never working can be explained.

Becuase the developers have ironically decided to block modifed .iso files, whuilst using the dvd genetor code to make the apps.

I coudl be wrong, but you can users can replciaet themselves. Try to use a modifed .els file with any game and create an iso with imgburn, then use with the ps3 webman or ps2classics to encode it.
it fails everytime

tested with GTA SAN_ANDREAS -
PSN pkg works, but that is NTSC and has stuff need fixing
PS2 DVD PAL, v1 or v2 dumped from PS3 encoded with webman on PS3 - FAILS
^^ Encoded with PS2 Classics works
^^ when modifed with a custom .elf (patch pal games to 60 hz), or modifying the main.scm - fails

What is the goal:
+Backup a PS2 DVD usign a IMGBurn
+Modify the game to include the fixes i made
+Encode that imgburn iso using either webman on PS3 or PS2Classics GUI
+Play the game i paid for 20 years ago and spent a long time fixing but noone else supposrt PAL PS2 games.

The evidence:
If you backup the PS2 DVD with PC with IMGBurn, modify the game &&
then create an iso with Sony's DVD generator software, it magically works on PS3 when you encode/ encrpyt it & install it as a packages.

See the irony?
