Description
Hi! I recently acquired a CECHA PS3, and it does not detect any Wi-Fi networks at all. At first I thought it had a broken internet module, but after some research, this seems to be related to a poorly documented issue described in the following video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNDfKjZD4so
From what I understand, certain early PS3 models may have problems handling environments with very strong Wi-Fi signals. In these cases, the Wi-Fi chip appears to become overloaded, preventing any wireless connections from being detected or established. The same interference also seems to affect the Ethernet port, which fails to connect as well, while Bluetooth continues to function normally.
When attempting to connect, the system reports error codes 80010201 or 8001000A. This does not appear to be a faulty Wi-Fi module as I tested the same PS3 in a low-interference environment (a beach area), and both Wi-Fi and Ethernet worked correctly there.
Could a CFW-based solution be developed to address this issue?
I understand that it is related to older PS3 Wi-Fi hardware, but would a software-level workaround be feasible?
For example, forcing the PS3 to ignore certain Wi-Fi signals or channels during scanning? Or at least, a simpler workaround could be letting users manually disable the Wi-Fi module in the options, since many people with this same issue reported that unplugging the antenna made the ethernet port work again.
