Webman: DS3 Won’t Pair If Used to Wirelessly Turn PS3 On

With webMAN installed, authentic Sony DualShock 3 controllers won’t fully pair to PS3 2501A (Evilnat 4.92) if used to wirelessly power on the console. Pressing the controller's PS button turns the console turns on, but then the controller just blinks indefinitely until I power the controller off and press PS again; then it pairs normally.

Issue disappears immediately after uninstalling webMAN and comes back right after reinstalling webMAN again. Tried reinstalling webMAN (both 1.47.48m & 48n), reinstalling Evilnat 4.92, and swapping HDDs. None of these fix the issue.

This occurs on three different genuine DS3 controllers. I have a separate 2501B with the same Evilnat 4.92 and webMAN versions installed, and that console does not have this issue with these same controllers. A few posts on Reddit have reported the same issue with webMAN but with no solution.

Any ideas?

DS3 sometimes cannot sync if there is a high demand of resources during the startup of the system.
This normally happens when the system is configured to scan for content at startup in /setup.ps3

Please also verify if it occurs unchecking the option Auto Fix Clock in /setup.ps3. Remember to save the settings after the change.

Another thing that you could test is if it happens installing the Lite edition.

If the problem persists, check if the issue still happens with webMAN MOD 1.47.45. Just to know if it is a new or old issue.

Thanks for the suggestions, Aldo. I tried all of them but the issue persists:

1. Tested both the Lite and Full versions of webMAN 1.47.45, 1.47.48m, and 1.47.48n
2. Tried every possible [ON]/[OFF] combination of Auto-Fix Clock and Disable Content Scan at Startup
3. Tested reinstalling both standard and overclocked Evilnat 4.92

None of that resolved the problem. I’m confident it’s not a hardware issue because uninstalling webMAN restores normal controller behavior right away.

If the issue still happens with webMAN 1.47.45 then it should not be related to recent changes or the newest features.

It could be some modding or configuration in Cobra of CFW Evilnat like overclocking or other background plugins being loaded at startup. Even some custom P3T themes could cause issues.

My last suggestion is try loading wMM manually from XMB after boot using Load_wMM

TIP: webMAN MOD is mainly necessary to scan the webMAN Games menu and FTP/WWW services. You can mount games a great variety of games (PS3ISO, PSXISO, JB game, etc) with webMAN MOD unloaded because wm_proxy can handle them.

For this setup, copy fb-hen.xml to fb.xml in "/dev_hdd0/xmlhost/game_plugin" to make the menu appear permanently.
