Change in datafile definition?

I had been using VIS Desktop 1.4.0 before and I switched to version 1.5.1.
I noticed a change in datafile layout; with 1.4.0 a relation-definition had all the properties of both entities, in 1.5.1. there is only the id of the two entities. Way more compact.
Is there any way of converting an older style datafile to the newer definition?

Also is there any way to validate a datafile? When I try to import my datafile into Aleph, it fails without telling me on what item. Tried the ftm validate, but that also doesn't work. VIS Desktop has no problems with the file...

One of the changes I have found is that another date notation is used.
This is causing problems importing the graph into Aleph, so I had to manually change all the dates.

There are probably also other changes as Aleph is importing most entities, but not swallowing the graph to be used...
