Modern Vue 3

I am currently working on a bigger ecommerce site (~1.7M Visitory / month).

We have implemented vue instantsearch and Autocomplete. I want to share my thoughts and frustrations with the implementation.

Let's start off with our tech stack:

• nuxt 3 with composition API
• vue 3
• nuxt i18n (for 8 regions and multiple languages)
• vue instantsearch (in combination with https://algolia.nuxtjs.org/)

Our onboarding experience was great.

But in the implementation phase we hit multiple challanges:

1. documentation is missing modern vue syntax (e.g. integration with Autocomplete is only possible with a mixin which we can't use in our modern tech stack )
2. out of the box use is not possible with a modern nuxt project (errors, because of missing autocomplete)
3. some issues with autocomplete (which will be dealt with in a separat issue I'll write 😉)

My recommendation from a paying implementor standpoint:

As a first step the support for the deprecated vue 2 version should removed, it has been almost two years and it's use should not be encouraged! (#6413)

By supporting a modern vue syntax the following discussions would be resolved:

• missing type declaration (Does Vue InstantSearch support TypeScript? #5821)
• Enable composables, as recommended¹ (Feature request: Vue composables with search state #5575)
• vue compat could be removed, less code maintainance

Not yet the code hasnt been sanitised and its a bit of a finger in the air at the moment 😂
