Do we need mqtt?

I was wondering: do we need mqtt at all?

This would simplify things and make it easy to setup.

One problem is the project name! 😅

I am thinking to create a new project and remove the MQTT portion of it.

Any thoughts?

I use this project outside of HA in Node-RED. I understand going directly to HA but I would think having MQTT would keep more people focused on one project instead of two.

My idea is to rename the project to RTLAMR2HA and then we could have the option to send the readings to MQTT or directly to HA via REST API calls.

Not everybody has MQTT and there actually no need for it other than reach a more abroad use-cases.

But it is still in a very early stage.
