rtlamr2mqtt gas meter no longer reporting to mqtt

I have been using this integration for a while now and I noticed that my gas meter stopped responding a while ago. I can see in the newest documentation that there was a significant code rewrite that instructs you to remove the device from your mqtt broker (mosquitto). I checked the config in rtlamr2mqtt and the device is still configured and the logs show it still checking in and getting readings. Do I just need to wait a while for it to get picked up again by mqtt, or are there any other steps needed to get it working again?
