Is it possible to directly interact with a component from other JS?

I’m using x-data with a reusable function as described in the docs.

1. Will Alpine reactivity work if I interact with the returned object directly from other JS? I.e. calling methods, setting properties.
2. Is it possible to get the component object for a particular DOM element?
