x-bind non-standard attribute

I'm looking to x-bind an attribute named s-val:offset (I'm using another front end tool called Sprig for Craft CMS which in turn parses these values).

I have offset and limit defined earlier and I'm doing x-bind:s-val:offset="offset + limit"

I think in terms of parse order and interoperability I should be fine but I just can't get this attribute working as intended. Is there some escaping I need to try?
