fails on Xenial 64 bit

Have a VM that's running Xenial 64 bit. Pull down the repository and run it as follows:

sudo ./alpine-make-rootfs --branch v3.8 myimage.tar.gz - <<'SHELL'

Some customization....

SHELL

Unfortunately, this fails (see attached file)

I am a newbie with this and any help in resolving this will be appreciated.

This is really weird, I’ve never seen such errors. It looks like some problem with your filesystem, but don’t know which.

Thanks jakub. I was looking into same--NB I do not receive this when I am on a "pure" ubuntu box. What I mean by Pure - it's no VM -- full fledged Distro. I will try changing my vagrant box distro and see if it's an issue with the VM distro. Thanks so much for your help. Will keep all posted on same.
