Hello Alvin,
I am a professor of software engineering from Germany at HTWG Konstanz. I have been using Scala for my lectures for about 10 years now. Your books and your videos have become a very valuable source for me and my students.
I have been trying to find a way to contact you, but I was not able to find an email address and your X account does not accept direct messages. So I am trying to reach you through this issue mechanism of github. I hope you read it.
I have been working on a learning platform for Scala for a few years now. It is written in Scala and produces a web site. I have focused on the platform rather than the content because there is so wonderful content such as your books and videos.
My platform is in essence similar to your site learningscala.com, which seems to be built on wix. It allows to provide videos and or text the students can use to learn Scala one step at a time, then provides mechanisms to interact with the content, similar to the exercises you provide for your book.
My platform - called CodeTask - goes beyond in a few ways. I plan to use it in my classes and in addition to the student facing front end, I also need a backend where I can asses the students progress. I also want to be able to provide digital exams for my students on this platform.
I would love to integrate your content into my platform. The platform is opensource and I would be happy to share the result with you or the world. There would be a few changes necessary as the login is currently bound to email addresses from my university.
I have a team of 7 students who are available to work on the platform in a team project right now. I am writing to you on April 5, 2025, which is the beginning of the 3rd week of your semester. The team project has just started and will end early July.
I would be very happy if you could contact me so that we could discuss if you would agree to such an integration, and if and how we could put up a collaboration. You can contact me at marko.boger@htwg-konstanz.de
Regards, Marko
