I can hear the silence

I downloaded the 1min of silence mp3 but.. I can hear something in it.
I can also see some variation when opening the file in audacity - is this because of mp3 compression?

I think you can try verifying if there is really something in the mp3 in audio processing software, such as AudioMass ¹, if you have no one installed locally.

you can create a really silent one yourself using ffmpeg

it is not because of MP3, the files are just not silent. MP3 is also not a good format as the minimum values are too high. I mean this is silence after all XD
