🖥️ VMware-Monitor - Safe VMware Monitoring Tool

Download VMware-Monitor

📋 What is VMware-Monitor?

VMware-Monitor is a simple application to check your VMware vCenter or ESXi systems. It only reads information, so it will not make any changes. This means it is safe to use on your infrastructure. The tool helps you watch your VMware environment without risk.

It works by connecting to your VMware servers and showing useful data about hosts, virtual machines, storage, and network status. There are no destructive actions, so monitoring is reliable and secure. The program uses Python and the pyvmomi library under the hood, but you don't need to know programming to use it.

🖥️ Requirements

Before running VMware-Monitor, make sure your system matches these requirements:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or later
  • Processor: 64-bit Intel or AMD CPU
  • Memory: At least 4 GB of RAM
  • Disk space: Minimum 100 MB free space
  • Network: Must be able to connect to your VMware vCenter or ESXi server over the network
  • VMware: Access credentials with read-only permissions to vCenter or ESXi

You do not need any special software installed on your PC besides the app itself.

🚀 Getting Started: Download and Run on Windows

  1. Open the download page by clicking the link below:

    Visit the VMware-Monitor Releases page

  2. On the release page, look for the latest release version (by date or highest version number).

  3. Find the Windows executable file. It should have a name like VMware-Monitor-setup.exe or similar ending with .exe.

  4. Click the .exe file to download it to your PC.

  5. After the download finishes, open the file by double-clicking it.

  6. Windows may ask you to confirm running the installer. Click "Yes" or "Run" to continue.

  7. Follow the installer instructions. Usually, press "Next" to accept default settings.

  8. When installation completes, open VMware-Monitor from your desktop or Start menu.

  9. You will see a simple screen to enter your VMware server details.

🔧 Setup Your Connection

To start monitoring, you need to provide the following information:

  • Server address — the IP or hostname of your vCenter or ESXi host.
  • Username — your read-only VMware account user.
  • Password — the password for your account.

Enter these details carefully. The tool will then connect to the server and fetch data.

📊 Using VMware-Monitor

Once connected, VMware-Monitor will display information such as:

  • List of hosts and their health status
  • Virtual machines running on each host
  • CPU, memory, and disk usage for hosts and VMs
  • Network connection status
  • Recent events and alerts (read-only)

You can refresh the data at any time with the refresh button.

No settings will be changed in your VMware environment because the app only reads data.

Use this information to keep an eye on your VMware systems and catch potential issues early.

🛠️ Common Troubleshooting

  • Cannot connect to VMware server:

    • Check if the server address is correct.
    • Ensure your PC can reach the server on the network.
    • Confirm that the username and password are valid and have read-only access.
  • Application does not start:

    • Make sure your Windows system meets the minimum requirements.
    • Try running the app as Administrator by right-clicking and selecting "Run as administrator."
  • Data does not refresh or updates slowly:

    • Verify your network connection is stable.
    • Large VMware environments may take longer to load; wait a moment.

🔐 Security and Safety

VMware-Monitor uses read-only access, which means:

  • It never changes or deletes data on your VMware servers.
  • It cannot impact running virtual machines or hosts.
  • It helps you stay informed without risk.

Always keep your VMware credentials secure. Do not share them.
