Ability to @ mention users in comments or descriptions

For example, I have a bash alias like

alias jcomment='f() { jira issue comment add $(getBranch) --no-input "$*"; }; f'

Which gives me an easy way to add comments to my ticket as I'm working.

jcomment I ran into an issue with the API, in discussions with the vendor now.

However, I cannot @mention users in the comments. I think it would be useful to be able to do that so the users can be notified appropriately.
