actions/checkout v6 breaks GH API

After dependabot updated our devel release workflows the tag-action started failing with the above version. Using this workaround #350 (comment) makes everything green again. Thanks for having the fallback setting.

Actions/checkout v6 changed the handling of credentials. Readme now notes:

Updated persist-credentials to store the credentials under $RUNNER_TEMP instead of directly in the local git config.
This requires a minimum Actions Runner version of [v2.329.0](https://github.com/actions/runner/releases/tag/v2.329.0) to access the persisted credentials for [Docker container action](https://docs.github.com/en/actions/tutorials/use-containerized-services/create-a-docker-container-action) scenarios.

Running with checkout@v6 fails with: fatal: could not read Username for 'https://github.com/': No such device or address.
Credentials can't be found and git tries to get them interactively which is not possible and gives this error.
