Need help for Q3D automation

Hi all,
I have a combined stl files of two 2D shapes. I need to get the C and L Matrix.
Can I automate this?
I am using AEDT 2025 R2 student version.
I have installed things following the instructions given in this link.

PyAEDT has a library of examples organized by AEDT application or by physics application.
You can look at the Q2D/Q3D examples section: https://examples.aedt.docs.pyansys.com/version/dev/examples/aedt/q3d_q2d/index.html.
These also helps you getting familiar with PyAEDT.

Hi Giulia, thank you for replying. I tried things according to those instructions.
For example, I downloaded the python script for Busbar Analysis. It is accessing the AEDT in my machine, It is showing two lots, but not all. I modified things too.
Let me explain.
For the busbar example, if I run that directly, I am getting errors.
I can't paste the complete error message.
Then I modified this:
q3d = ansys.aedt.core.Q3d(
project=os.path.join(temp_folder.name, "busbar.aedt"),
version=AEDT_VERSION,
non_graphical=NG_MODE,
new_desktop=True,
)
to this:
q3d = ansys.aedt.core.Q3d(
project=os.path.join(temp_folder.name, "busbar.aedt"),
version=None,
non_graphical=NG_MODE,
new_desktop=True,
)

And it is accessing Q3D and giving me some results at least. There are error messages though.

Now, I don't know how to do it. Can I use .stl files? No idea.
Ansys doesn't provide complete scripting guidance. I would appreciate your efforts to help me

Hi @Samiendu,

I have a few questions:

• What do you mean by: "It is showing two lots, but not all"?
• What version of PyAEDT you are using? You should specify this version in the argument version when you initialize Q3d not putting None.
• Have you check the path where you are saving the .aedt file to? os.path.join(temp_folder.name, "busbar.aedt")
• What does .stl file have to do with the busbar example? do you need to import .stl file? We have an extension in PyAEDT that allows you that but first I'll focus to make it work.
