Rice's Whale eDNA Prey Study

Files associated with environmental DNA metabarcoding analysis of potential prey communities for the critically endangered Rice's whale (Balaenoptera ricei) in the northeastern Gulf of America. A study examining the foraging ecology and prey availability for Rice's whales using two 12S rRNA markers (MiFish and Riaz).

The structure of this repository is:

  • markdown – study questions, sample descriptions, analysis notes, and results
  • metadata – sample data and other metadata, prepared in standard format for database submission
  • code – scripts and/or Jupyter notebooks for data analysis and figure generation
  • tourmaline – config, manifest, and metadata files for Tourmaline runs, plus links to full Tourmaline output on Zenodo (TODO)
  • analyses – processed data files including reference databases, taxonomy tables, and comparison analyses
  • data – raw data including trawl survey data and reference sequences
