It is, Free BSD is not Linux. We support all linux distributions.

By this is request to support Free BSD.

Thanks @ManPython ! Sorry, I thought you were raising the same issue, I've updated the title to make it clear that this is a feature request asking to support Pyarrow on Free BSD. Have you tried compiling the sdist lately, could you share the logs?

yes, they are this same.. and long compilation process due many relations - I did not copy terminal log to analyze some differences, but in final not installed. Only classic pip experiments, nothing more.

Could you share the log like #40776 for pip install pyarrow (the latest release)?

The error of #40776 is caused by missing Apache Arrow C++. You need to install Apache Arrow C++ before pip install pyarrow.

You can use the "arrow" port https://cgit.freebsd.org/ports/tree/databases/arrow but it's a bit old. (The latest release is 21.0.0 but the "arrow" port is 20.0.0.) It may cause a problem.

You installed Apache Arrow C++ by FreeBSD port, right?
It seems that you have Apache Arrow C++ 18.0.0 (but the latest FreeBSD port uses Apache Arrow C++ 20.0.0).

Based on the log, PyArrow 21.0.0 requires Apache arrow C++ 21.0.0. Could you try pip install pyarrow=18.0.0 or installing Apache Arrow C++ 21.0.0 manually?

Could you install LLVM by FreeBSD ports or disabling Gandiva by PYARROW_BUILD_GANDIVA=OFF pip install pyarrow=18.0.0?
