Before this change, DROP <table> IF EXISTS would unconditionally try to drop the table, crashing. This small change fixes at least some cases (the one I was experimenting with).

Summary of Changes

Hello @kennknowles, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request fixes a bug in the DROP IF EXISTS statement within the Beam SQL extension. Previously, the system would attempt to drop a table regardless of its existence, leading to a crash. The change introduces a check to ensure the table exists before attempting the drop operation, resolving the crash and aligning the behavior with the intended semantics of DROP IF EXISTS.

Highlights

  • Bug Fix: Addresses a crash that occurred when using DROP <table> IF EXISTS statement.
  • Conditional Table Dropping: The code now checks if the table exists before attempting to drop it, preventing unconditional drop attempts.
  • BeamCalciteSchema Integration: Specifically targets and fixes the behavior within BeamCalciteSchema.
