+uimaFIT has been integrated into the [Apache UIMA Java SDK](https://github.com/apache/uima-uimaj) with version 3.6.0. 
+With this integration, uimaFIT ceases to exist as a separate sub-project.
+For the time being, uimaFIT artifacts continue to be released as part of the Java SDK releases under the familiar Maven coorinates.
+The merge of uimaFIT into the core Java SDK paves the way for further integrating the uimaFIT functionalities into the framework core.
