Configuring the server and client

The instructions for the server and client say: Assuming you have already downloaded the executable for your platform into a directory, say hysteria-linux-amd64-avx. Create a config.yaml file in the same directory.
I don't understand which directory we are talking about, which directory should I put the executable file in? I don't have the path and to folders. Help please. I'll also add that config and the key and certificate are in the same folder /etc/hysteria/
