Devcontainer / codespaces for development

I struggled when i wanted to contribute a feature to api-platform.
For other projects i successfully used containers to run one off commands with a predefined setup (eg. the mongodb extension loaded).
Another possibility is devcontainers.

(e.g. i had very long commands to run the tests or cs-fix:

docker compose exec -e PHP_CS_FIXER_IGNORE_ENV=1 -w /app/vendor/api-platform/core api ../../bin/php-cs-fixer fix

docker compose exec -e APP_ENV=test -w /app/vendor/api-platform/core api php -d memory_limit=-1 ./vendor/bin/phpunit tests/Functional/NotSkipNullToOneRelationTest.php

I wonder if you already tried containers or devcontainers?
