Master data

Master Data is a very well established term that describes non transactional business data that provide context for the transactions. It comes with its own set of theories and methodologies under the term Master Data Management.

In this sense, the term is used in the many UIs to mark such data. (e.g. list of persons, part is labeled "Master Data")

Proposal:
replace with defining data

Defining data is already in use. Master data could be replaced by:

• Main data
• Key data

Or we keep the term as master in this context is not discriminatory. There is no ‚slave‘. We should not ban ‚master‘ in general.

What’s your opinion?

Btw. ABS and Airwave are terms not known to nor used by this OSS project.

I like key data.
personally I think that removing master in this case is a bit problematic due to the them more dificult identification as master data in the sense of Master Data Management.
I am ready to be convinced otherwise.
