My best guess is that you moved the kfx file out of its original folder structure on the Colorsoft and KFX Input couldn't find the other related files needed for DeDRM to decrypt it. Doesn't matter for the non-kfx book from your Kindle Touch which DeDRM can decrypt on its own. |

Solved it. I apparently needed to upgrade my version of Calibre 64-bit from 7.whatever I was running to the latest version 8.6.0 |

I upgraded from a Kindle Touch 4 to a new Kindle Colorsoft. Before anyone asks, yes, I went into the configuration settings in Calibre to update the serial number to the one for my new Kindle. (Old one started B0XX XXXX XXXX XXXX, new one starts with GNXX XXXX XXXX XXXX) and just to verify, I used the exact same version of Calibre, the exact same version of DeDRM 10.0.9, the exact same version of KFX Input 2.25.0 since this was the same computer, AND the exact same E-book downloaded to both Kindles directly from Amazon. The KFX book on my old Touch 4 converts just fine. The same KFX book on my new Kindle downloads as kfx-zip. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
