No Issue; Just Chatting #4

Description

@MrDaisyBates

I just wanted to pop in and get in contact with you. Maybe I don't understand GitHub well enough, but I don't see a "discuss" area, so I decided to do it here.

First off, I really wanted to thank you for taking the effort to make this application! I just ran into it on flathub and wouldn't have known it existed if it wasn't listed there, so thank you for taking the time to list it there, as well.

There really isn't a lot of representation of Tarot stuff on Linux (and maybe the demand isn't crazy, either, so, I'm sympathetic to creators). But it's def something I personally value, so I'm quite pleased to see something Tarot related in the software repository.

I wanted to express gratitude, and that was my primary reason for showing up here. Thanking you and passing along encouragement.

Some minor things (feel free to create issues/FRs if you feel its warranted).

Aspect ratio on the RWS deck is a bit off

I'm not sure if this is universal to all decks, but it seems to be the case when browsing the cards. I'm on Fedora 43 if it matters.

Where Does One Find Decks?

I know this isn't your problem (you're just facilitating it), but I'm not super techy. What is this file format these decks are in? Where does one find or how does one create this format?

As a Learning/Thinking Tool

I personally see myself using it as a learning/thinking tool. I've not gotten too deep into how I'd best use it, but at first glance, that's where my mind goes. Maybe that was your intention (if so, there you go. Nice and intuitive ahaha).

There's some things I think might be cool to see. You've got the deck subdivided in pretty intuitive ways on the sidebar, but (if you have it in you and like this idea), I like the idea of being able to subdivide the deck in other ways, too. Specifically, I like the idea of me being able to create a subdivision myself and populate it myself.

So, for example, if I decided to make a header for "Fire Cards", I could open some field for that header/filter/whatever you want to call it, and I could manually curate and organize what cards fall under that tag.

Again, what I'm after is the functionality, not the feature. So, feel free to disregard the mechanism if you have better ideas on how to achieve it.

The reason I like this functionality is that there are many other ways to divide the deck and some of them are personal (as in some may or may not value certain structures).

Even more advanced than that (thinking down the road) is if this can be done generally (as in, what is a fire card is likely a fire card in practically all standard decks, therefore any deck I upload, I'd like these same options to be available). And some of these are specific (as in maybe there are baskets/filters/containers I like that are specific to only one deck).

My assumption is, while viewing a deck, I'd want to see both of these in the same place (when studying one deck, general ideas and deck-specific ideas all equally apply, therefore, equal access).

Again, a lot of this is because my intentions with your software is structuring and note taking. Just a nice central place to work on and learn more deeply. Assimilating ideas from various sources and whatnot.

Concluding

That's all for now. I'll need some time to get my hands dirty with your software. I'll likely have all kinds of small FR/bugs if I find them. It's your project, though, so, everything is at your discretion.

More than anything, I appreciate you doing this and just wanted to express it. Cheers.
