Library Manager: Update not detected for StringEEPROM

Description

I have released a new version of my library StringEEPROM, but the Arduino Library Manager has not detected the update.

Library Information

• Library name: StringEEPROM
• GitHub repository: https://github.com/roncoa/StringEEPROM
• Latest release version: 1.0.2
• Release date: 10/02/2025

Issue

• The new version 1.0.2 is not appearing in the Arduino IDE Library Manager.
• I have correctly updated the library.properties file and the release tag.
• The release is correctly published as a GitHub Release with the matching tag.

Steps Taken

• Checked the library.properties file.
• Verified that the GitHub tag matches the version number.
• Waited more than 24 hours for the update to appear.
• Restarted the Arduino IDE and refreshed the library index.

Could you please check if there is an issue with the indexing process?

You can check for yourself. You only need to look at the dedicated logs web page for your library, which the bot told you about when you submitted the library:

So the 1.0.2 release of your library was rejected because it contains a .exe file. For the sake of security, we do not allow these files in libraries. So you will need to remove it from the library and then make a new release.

It is generally poor practice to check binaries like StringEEPROM_tool.exe into a Git repository. Due to the nature of binary files, they can cause the size of the repository to explode over time. A more appropriate approach is to only host the source code in a repository distribute the binary as an asset attached to a GitHub release.

You can direct the user to download the file from the release in the project documentation.

You can manually attach the asset file to each release, or if you want to get fancy, you can set up an automated system for building the executable and attaching it to the release. At Arduino, we use a GitHub Actions workflow to automatically generate GitHub releases for our projects, triggered by pushing a Git tag to the repository. We use this excellent GitHub Actions action in the workflow create the release and upload assets:
