Proposal to introduce optional feature for verification of container image integrity before deployment

Would like to propose Image verification feature leveraging cosign to start with before deployment. The proposal here would be more relevant for the imageupdater plugin. Please share thoughts if we could pursue incorporating this solution in image-updater plugin.
