Using different customToggle when js-nav-active

I'm currently using a customToggle (hamburger).  However, I was wondering if there was any way to change the cutomToggle image to an "X" when js-nav-active was active (i.e. when the drop-down menu is visible) and back to a hamburger icon when the drop-down menu is not visible.  Im new to coding ... thanks in advance.
