Directional painting not working for me

Hi,

I need to paint a tree, so trunk and branches don't follow the same texture/uv direction of course

I cannot achieve this even if I set the directional checkbox of the brush

what am I missing ? does it only work with a pen/tablet ?

Ok I found how to do it, once again decals and use CTRL+click
so the paint tool is rather useless, or I don't get it
although it works I can do directional paint and hide UV seems, I feel the decal is rather limited, uncontrollable and not really intuitive

Will try to make decal more intuitive and react to geometry normals like the brush does.

well using "directional" kind of do the trick but constantly pressing on CTRL to have what the regular brush should do is really tedious

also if you exit the region of the decal, it does not paint anymore, that does not help and ruins the advantage of using cyclic textures

then it is impossible to get rid of seams even if I use the same textures in fill mode, prior to use decal, so I would have to fix the textures with Krita or Gimp or what not
