<p>RUMT would love to have any Rice undergraduate student who is interested in Mock Trial. Even if you think you have no prior experience, we would love for you to come to a meeting and learn more about the team and what exactly it means to be a part of RUMT. Many people think that Mock Trial is only for people who want to become lawyers in the future, but this really isn’t the case. If you have an interest in or experience with theatre or debate, Mock Trial may be a good fit for you.</p>
<p>The team will begin meeting in the fall of each school year. Information about interest meetings will be posted on our Facebook page (link in the upper right corner of the website). For additional information, feel free to contact us through Facebook. RUMT will be competing in invitationals and scrimmages in the fall, so it is a great time for new members to try out their skills in a more casual environment. If you wish to be a part of the team that will participate in AMTA tournaments in the spring (Regionals, ORCs, and Nationals), then you should come to the fall meetings to learn about the case and figure out which role is the best fit for you.</p>

<p>Rice Mock Trial was founded in 2017. In the fall of its first season, RUMT competed in several invitationals and scrimmages across southern Texas in preparation for the upcoming AMTA tournament season. In Spring of 2018, Rice MT kicked off the year with a trip to Sherman, Texas for Kangaroo Brawl and placed third in the tournament. Two of its members also earned outstanding attorney awards. After this, the team attended the UT Dallas Regional Tournament and won enough ballots to advance to the next round of competition, the Opening Round Championships (ORCs). RUMT participated in the Greenville, SC ORCs in March of 2018 and two members of the team won outstanding witness awards.</p>
<p>In the fall of 2018, RUMT hosted its first tournament, RiceBowl 2018! We also added two new teams to our roster with lots of new talent. By the end of fall semester invitationals, five members of the team had received outstanding witness awards. In the spring, RUMT sent teams to California and Oklahoma where Rice placed third at the Sooner invitational. Rice also sent three to regionals in Dallas and Houston, one of which advanced to the Opening Round Championships in Memphis, Tennessee.</p>
