To make a quick change in an audio file with Audacity, I typically do a lot of clicks:

  1. audacity the_file.wav to start the application
  2. Edit it
  3. Press Ctrl+S
  4. Realize it offers to save a project, not a sound
  5. Exit the save dialogue
  6. Look up "Export Audio" in the menu
  7. Fill in the destination and format manually to match original file format
  8. Aggree to replace the file
  9. Attempt to exit Audacity
  10. Reject the offer to save a project.

I think Audacity should be more suited for quick changes in audio assets and ideally I want it to be like this:

  1. audacity the_file.wav to start the application (maybe with some CLI parameter)
  2. Edit it
  3. Press Ctrl+S
  4. Exit Audacity
