Reboot Issues

Hello, I'm noticing some odd behavior with the "reboot" function and was hoping you guys would maybe look at it or provide some insight.

When the entity is rebooted and comes back online, either the entity is "unavailable" after (as declared by the console), or there are less descriptors available than what should be. Same thing happens when configurations are switched...the entity becomes totally unavailable.

Maybe you guys already know about this, but I attached some wiresharks, and the output of the console (for two different devices, Intercom, and J unit).

How fast does the device reboot?

Intercom usually reboots in 25 seconds or less, and J Unit is 30 seconds generally, but has taken as long as 45 seconds.

Another related observation is that in addition to having these "reboot issue", avdecccmdline does not recognize when devices are being taken off the network (unless they are being rebooted).

Okay good. I was concerned about a recent PR of mine on the staging branch that might be causing issues.

Off the network for how long? There are some timeouts that have to occur before a device is flagged as missing.

Even off the network for several minutes, I can even see the "DISCONNECTED" command in the console, yet none of the info updates.. (see attached. Jim's unit was taken offline).

@AvD17 Hi Katie, can you clarify what you mean by "none of the info updates"?

I have not done much testing with the 'Reboot' API, but I can comment on what the expected behavior in avdecccmdline should be when devices go offline and back on again.

We do not clear out the device model in avdecc-lib when a device goes offline - we simply mark the end station as disconnected.

This is why you were still able see the device info in: > view all after the DISCONNECTED notification.

Also, note that devices will not be re-enumerated (descriptors updated) in avdecc-lib when coming back online unless they are advertising a different model_id or available index. See here
