Deezer-linux freeze on a Wayland session on Ubuntu 24.04 probably due to hardware acceleration

Steps to Reproduce

Hello,

Ubuntu freezes completely when starting Deezer-linux on a Wayland session on Ubuntu (I've same issue with Chromium, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and other chromium based app.)
I use the 7.1.20 version (flatpak install) on Ubuntu 24.04.3. My configuration is quite old: AMD Phenom II X4 955 processor (integrated Radeon graphics controller) with 12GB DDR3 RAM.

I don't have this issue on an Xorg session.

I suppose this is due to hardware acceleration. Indeed, for Chromium, Chrome, and other Chromium-based browsers, you need to disable hardware acceleration for now (see: https://issues.chromium.org/issues/442860477?pli=1)

However, I cannot disable hardware acceleration this for Deezer-linux app.

Thanks for this report ;)

I've created a potential patch. I cannot reproduce your issue so I don't know if my fix works, it's a blind guess

Can you try this and update me?

• download this artifact: https://github.com/aunetx/deezer-linux/actions/runs/20530733452/artifacts/4973084714 (AppImage x64)

• then, just chmod +x $artifact$ and ./$artifact$ %U --no-sandbox --disable-hardware-acceleration

With the patch, the application doesn't display (but the icon appears in the top bar).

However, Ubuntu no longer freezes.
