Reducing costs when running integration tests

Hi all,

I was working on an issue related to AWS MSK and ran the required integrations tests in one of my AWS accounts.
A day after my budget alarm sent me an e-mail - and I was a bit surprised.

Is there general guidance around

• how to check possible costs upfront
• reducing the costs of such tests ?
  Would pull requests reducing the costs for running tests also be accepted/ appreciated?

Any feedback appreciated.
