The DAX team is planning to release a data plane client separately from the AWS SDK that is a more modern version of the existing https://www.npmjs.com/package/amazon-dax-client. I do not have an estimate for the release date.

Hi Dave, @daveharig - I reached out to service team regarding your question and they mentioned the release may be in April this year.
