Amazon Q v1.79.0 Cannot Start Chat - Unable to get local issuer certificate

Problem

The Amazon Q for VS Code v1.79.0 extension stopped working, preventing from starting any chat. The error message is “unable to get local issuer certificate.”

It appears that the bug fix “Bug Fix Added automatic system certificate detection and VSCode proxy settings support” introduced another bug.

Downgrading to v1.78.0 works as expected.

Steps to reproduce the issue

1. Upgrade to v1.79.0
2. Try to open/start chat
3. Error will be shown "unable to get local issuer certificate".

Expected behavior

Extension shall work as in previous versions, and properly use configuration of VS Code and/or system when it comes to proxies, certificates, etc.

System details (run AWS: About and/or Amazon Q: About)

• Visual Studio Code version: 1.101.2
• AWS Toolkit version: N/A
• Amazon Q version: 1.79.0

Verified on newer version of the extension v1.81.0 and things started to work correctly as expected.
