I saw that warmenhoven merged his pull request for the libretro core 3 days into this. does anyone know how to compile a dll for retroarch? I'm a complete idiot when it comes to visual studio and i have absolutely no idea how to test the build or even where to get the core.

A testing build will become available soon enough, this one is not really tested at all, so I think I would strongly encourage you to wait patiently for that. If you must test, you can find an automatically built version of the cores in the github actions tab for the commit : https://github.com/azahar-emu/azahar/actions/runs/22202830172 . You should be able to install the core manually in Retroarch, though I personally am not sure how.
