Random thought on You can use one of those wifi sd-cards and get the .all file over there in no time. Still needs a restart but I thought quite a few times about getting one. |

Probably can't do anything about this.
At some point I want to change the pattern file format to include FX presets and groove templates per part. I'll try to increase the loop length when I do that.
I think I can probably make sample import/export via sysex work, but it will be slow. USB and filesystems are complex, getting the SD card mounted as USB storage is a lot of work even with source code. I probably won't try to hack this into Hacktribe. |

In theory, voice stealing should be possible to solve if we run some lightweight synthesis instead of Korg's XMT that's quite resource-intensive, but I guess that's way out of scope of the Hacktribe project and more of something that'd work with Freetribe - so at the very least it's easier said than done. |

So I've been imagining having a magic wand and changing the Electribe 2, I came to the conclusion that there's 3 major flaws with the machine:
Voice stealing; I would imagine this is not fixable on the software end since it'd need a beefier CPU
4 bar limit; We all hate this, but to be honest it's intrinsic to the design and charm of the E2, it keeps things simple.
Sample management; Now this one I think bugs me the most. When you want to update the samples you have to nitpick your samples first, edit them and then use external programs to compile an e2Sample.all file (I even wrote a large script for this), put it on your SD card, and then restart the E2. What if we could just drag and drop an audio file from our DAW? How hard would this be to implement on the firmware side? I know MIDI data already goes thru the USB...
Basically I am willing to take the plunge and crack open my E2s to mod the firmware myself, but only if someone can give me an indication whether my idea is doable
