Using GANTTproject as Diagram Tool

The issue is feature request:
Make it possible to enlarge the character size inside a GANTT-Chart.

But the main purpose of this issue is a description how to use GANTTproject as Diagram Tool.

Objective: export a vector graphic
Issue: the characters are too small, if the GANTT is large.

Here is my work flow:
1.) Export Report as PDF
2.) Extract GANTT by means of Inkscape
3.) Mark right part and move it to the right (you have now a gap between the left and the right part)
4.) Mark all text parts

• Mark a text block
• Mark all text: Menu->Edit -> Select Same -> Object Type
• Change font size

5.) Extent left (short) horizontal rulers one by one (takes some time) by typing in a larger size "b"
6.) Mark all elements of the GANTT-Chart (with the selection tool, do not use Ctrl+A)
7.) Export marked elements as PDF
8.) Open PDF inside Word as new document (Ctrl+O)

This way the quality is good and the file size is small.
Export as SVG and import SVG into Word is a night mare, if the GANTT is large.

I don't understand what is requested, sorry.

1. If you need to change the diagram font, you can do it in the Gantt chart settings.
2. If the request is about scalable output, it seems that you already know that PDF export is scalable. There is a couple of enhancement requests to make it better:

• SVG Export #1320
• Option to export chart only to PDF #674

The remaining items from your workflow seem to be specific to your requirements.
3. There is no SVG export in GanttProject, so I don't know how could you learn that it was a nightmare.
4. Speaking about "using as diagram tool", I don't understand it at all, sorry. GanttProject is for project schedules, not for any generic diagrams.

In a project application, I would like to include a GANTT-chart. It is a MS-Word document.
I could do the job in Excel or Power-point, but I was interested to test your great SW! - Thanks a lot for that :-)

Attached a figure what I can see in the GANTT-chart-settings, I miss the option "Font Size"

As I wrote, I export as PDF report and extract the graph by using Inkscape.
Inside Inkscape I modify the font size of all text objects.
Than I export and at that point it turned out, that export from Inkscape as pdf works much better in
comparison to the export as *.svg.

PS:
And today I observed that the space on the left side of the of the graph (inside the exported PDF)
is sensitive to the width of the left window / pane in the GUI.
So this shortens my approach to enlarge the font size.

Thanks for the advice :-)
I have double checked on my windows machine this font size has now impact on the font size in the PDF-report document (unfortunately), also the "table row padding" setting has no impact on the GANTT-chart inside the PDF-export.

All these settings (application font size, chart font size, table padding) are respected by PDF export. See the attached screencast.

This is weird, I do not see, where the differences are, today on a Linux machine I have the same behavior. Font size and padding stay the same in the GANTT of the PDF-report ???

I don't understand what do you want, sorry. As I said, the font size can be changed in the settings, and those settings are respected by PDF export. I checked it twice on Linux and Windows in the latest GanttProject 3.3.3316. I don't know why it may not work on your machine. Maybe you just export not to the file that you open in the PDF viewer?

Attached a PDF that I have not managed to achieve without font manipulation inside Inkscape.
The manipulated page of the PDF report generated by GANTTproject was imported into Word and than exported as PDF:

GANTT_A4.pdf

And to compare the original with the manipulated GANTT-chart I add also the 5-page long PDF-report (the font size is too small).
